Just part of the line at the #DWWorldTour NYC event!
Look at that.
Just FYI: This photo is a stunning illustration of just how much the BBC press machine has thrown itself behind Doctor Who in the last few years (and why). When they screened Matt Smith’s first episode in New York several years ago, not only did tickets not sell out for days (Doctor… who?), but the event was held at the Paley Center for Media, in a theater with a capacity of no more than 200 people. I arrived a few minutes late and we still found seats. furiousfurious conned her way on the press line and snapped pics of Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and the Moff.
And then - AND THEN AFTERWARDS - there was a reception with free wine and cheese, and we played meet and greet. That’s right. Four years ago, the plebs could still be in the same room as the talent as if they were normal.
Matt Smith is incredible tall and personable. I was too starstuck. Moffatt shmushed me against a wall on his way to get out. That’s a metaphor for something, right?
Its extremely strange how my life has done a few full circles since the evening in question. In fact, one of my top photos taken still is the one where moffat is looking in the camera and clearly laughing at me.
